Mobile Medical Information For The Deaf

The language barrier, when trying to communicate with the Deaf can be frustrating for both parties but may have serious consequences in emergency situations, for example when a Deaf person must be notified about possible danger., This paper focuses on a system that will address the communication gap between the Deaf person and hearing persons under specific conditions, such as a visit to a pharmacist or doctor. A software product on a mobile device will be developed that could improve the health care services for Deaf patients. This medical information application will provide information on HIV/AIDS and hypertension. The information will be recorded and will then be translated into sign language using video footages that will be stored in a database. More so this system will help Deaf people to gain more knowledge about the illness.
