Prof A Gerber received a PhD in Computer Science at the University of South Africa in 2007, Ming from the University of the Witwatersrand in 1992 and a Bing from the University of Pretoria in 1987. She is a NRF C1 rated researcher as well as a chair of the Centre for AI (CAIR) Research Group in Applied Artificial Intelligence. She has published more than 70 accredited publications with co-authors in the key areas of her research which includes formal conceptual modelling, applied AI and data science, as well as design science research (DSR). She supervised more than 30 masters and doctoral students to completion of their degrees. She is the immediate past president of SAICSIT, the Southern African Institute for computer scientists and information technologists, as well as founding member of AISSAC, the SA chapter of the Association of Information Systems (AIS), board member of SACAIR, the Southern African Conference for AI Research.
