Women in Computer Science is a student movement aimed at being a catalyst for the growth of women in the Computer Science industry as well as bring opportunities to women in Computer Science.Women in Computer Science was started as an initiative to get women into computer science as well as generate opportunities for the female child in this male dominated industry.As a student body we have seen tremendous growth in the number of females that study computer science and strive to ensure the growth of female excellence. Dr Omowunmi Isafiade is a doctoral researcher at the University Of the Western Cape (UWC). She is passionate about mentoring and impacting the younger generation, especially in the area of science and mathematics education. She is also passionate about using her skills in helping to dismantle barriers that keep women and minorities from entering science and technology fields. Omowunmi is a committee member of the Global Google Anita Borg Scholars Community and one of the 7 from EMEA region who attended the Grace Hopper Conference (GHC) in Phoenix, Arizona. Attending the Grace Hopper Celebration of women in Computing spurred her to resuscitate the women in computer science society at UCT, a worthy cause to promote the participation of more women in Computer Science and related field(s). She likes sewing and playing table tennis.
