Topic Title: Distributed Around the World: A Swarm of Opportunities
Abstract:
After completing my undergraduate studies in Computer Science at the University of the Western Cape, I pursued a Master’s degree in Electrical and Space Systems Engineering at the Kyushu Institute of Technology, graduating in September 2024 through the PNST Fellowship. I then began a new chapter as a Doctoral Researcher at the French Space Agency (CNES), working in collaboration with the French National Civil Aviation University (ENAC). My research now focuses on distributed computing for satellite swarms. This presentation will trace my journey from UWC to CNES, offering insights into the academic and professional transitions, and highlighting the opportunities and challenges of working at the intersection of computer science, distributed systems, and space.
